Stay Safe on Becchh

Becchh connects lakhs of buyers and sellers every day. Most transactions are smooth and honest — but knowing how to spot a scam can save you from the rare bad actor.

Do This
  • Meet in a public place (market, mall, coffee shop) for item exchange.
  • Inspect items thoroughly before handing over payment.
  • Use UPI or cash on delivery — avoid advance transfers to strangers.
  • Verify the item works before completing the transaction.
  • Trust your instincts — if something feels off, walk away.
  • Keep copies of chats and listings in case of disputes.
Never Do This
  • Never share your OTP, bank PIN, or Aadhaar details with anyone.
  • Don't pay in advance for items you haven't seen in person.
  • Avoid deals that seem too good to be true — they usually are.
  • Never click links from buyers/sellers asking you to 'verify' payment.
  • Don't share your home address with strangers before meeting.
  • Avoid wire transfers or cryptocurrency payments to unknown buyers.

Common Scams to Watch Out For

Recognising the warning signs is the first step to avoiding fraud.

OTP / KYC Scam

A fake buyer calls claiming to process a refund or payment, then asks for your OTP or bank details. Becchh will NEVER call you asking for OTPs.

Advance Payment Scam

The 'buyer' pays via a fake screenshot and asks you to ship first. Always verify funds in your account before releasing goods.

Fake Listings

Scammers post high-value items at unusually low prices to collect deposits. Report any listing that demands advance payment before showing the item.

Address Spoofing

Fraudulent sellers give a fake address and collect payment before disappearing. Always confirm the exact meeting location over the phone first.
